NRM holds SIGs primaries in Kaberamaido

The elections were held at Kaberamaido town council. The NRM district registrar, Isaac Ojade presided over the elections.

POLITICS   2021 ELECTIONS

The National Resistance Movement on Friday held primaries for Special Interest Groups (SIGs) including older persons, youth and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), for district councils in Kaberamaido district.

The elections were held at Kaberamaido town council. The NRM district registrar, Isaac Ojade presided over the elections.

According to Ojade, all nine sub-counties were well represented. They include; Ochero, Kobulubulu, Okile, Kaberamaido, Aperkira, Oriamo and Alwa. Also, Ochero and Kaberamaido Town councils participated.

During the elections of the older persons, the entire five aspirants were unopposed. Moses Mathew Erayu was elected chairman and John Emau Badrum his vice-chairperson.

Albert Obote Opoi was elected as the general-secretary while Robert Oriekot, was elected secretary for publicity and Margaret Anago Ekamu, the secretary for finance.

For the PWDs, Ojade declared Milton Akou Owie as the chairperson, Moses Oroto, his vice-chairperson. Others are Vincent Ojur, the general-secretary, Charles Ochan, secretary for publicity and Grace Ayuru, secretary for finance.

Meanwhile, of the nine positions that form the district youth council for the youth, seven were unopposed. Pamela Achan defeated Rose Adoo for the position of women affairs. Brenda Iyango defeated Silas Etengu for the position of students' affairs.

The elected NRM flag bearers will now wait for the final elections organised by Electoral Commission.
