The Police in Entebbe are hunting for Abubaker Walusimbi who is contesting for the Member of Parliament (MP) seat on the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) ticket.
Walusimbi is accused of assaulting Abubaker Walakira over a contested piece of land. Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, said Walakira opened a case of assault at the Entebbe Police Station, accusing Walusimbi of attacking him with a spade.
"We summoned Walusimbi, but he has never turned up. So, we are going to arrest him," Onyango said. Walusimbi and Walakira are embroiled in a land conflict following an alleged breach of the agreement both parties had signed in 2008, regarding a piece of land at Kitubulu Cell, Katabi town council in Wakiso district.
According to their initial agreement, Walakira and Walusimbi secured a piece of land on Plot 1273 Block 439, measuring close to one acre, upon which each party was entitled to half share of the land.
However, the agreement gave Walakira 40% of any developments on the land. Walusimbi was to retain 60%.Walakira contends that Walusimbi, who is married to his (Walakira's) niece, failed to honour the agreement, after constructing a hotel, among other developments, on the same piece of land. Walakira fi led a civil case in court, where Justice Billy Kainamura ordered each party to retain 50% share of the land.
"I also order that the plaintiff shall retain part of the land where he is resident right now and the defendant shall be entitled to take the part of the land with a building where the hotel business was being carried out," read the judgment.Walusimbi said as the court judgment directs, he is still waiting for Walakira to propose a valuer.
He denied the assault accusations, saying it was Walakira who had attacked him with a panga.
