The Kenyan government, under the leadership of former president Daniel Arap Moi, released $3.6m equating 3.6b Uganda Shillings as part payment for tarmacking the Sironko-Kapchorwa road. This was part of the $19m to be paid to Uganda as compensation for the defunct East African Community assets. Arap Moi was the second and longest-serving President of Kenya, serving from 1978 to 2002. He died on February 4, 2020.
