Minister Opendi pledges Govt commitment to mining sector

The State Minister for Energy and Mineral Development, Sarah Opendi, has confirmed that government is committed to work on the legal framework that will protect the mining industry.

During the annual citizens' convention on mineral rights in Kampala, Opendi said the mining bill that will offer solutions to existing problems in the industry, will soon be tabled before cabinet.

Opendi also encourages women to formalise their participation in the industry by registering their organisations for the government to support them.

Meanwhile, the Democratic Governance Facility director hailed the convention saying it brings the government and citizens together for accountability.
