Four family members killed in Kisoro, suspect on run

It is alleged that Ndikumukiza picked a machete on Thursday night and started cutting his family members indiscriminately.

The Police in Kisoro district have launched a manhunt for a 28-year-old man who allegedly went on a rampage and killed four members of his family.

The Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson, Elly Maate, identified the suspect as Gerald Ndikumukiza, a resident of Kageyo village, Busengo parish in Nyarubuye sub-county.

It is alleged that Ndikumukiza picked a machete on Thursday night and started cutting his family members indiscriminately.

"He started with his wife, called Mariserina Mujawimana, 26, before he descended on his brother's wife, Joan Nyiramahoro, 20, his father, Deogratius Sebutama, 80, and his mother Bonconsira Nyiraguhirwa,75," said Maate.

Police said the suspect had just returned from Masala where he had been working as a casual labourer with his brother, George Habyeremye.

The Police preliminary investigations have shown that the suspect had a history of mental disorder.

"Plans to remove the bodies from the scene are underway pending postmortem," added Police.
