Lightning kills mother of five in Kole district

A mother of five was on Saturday killed by lightning in Kole district, leaving her six-month-old baby and husband, who were near her, unhurt.

Scovia Obote, a resident of Omito A village in Alito sub-county, was having supper in her one-roomed house when the incident happened.

 Alfred Okello, Obote's father-in-law, said the lightning destroyed a small part of their roof. He noted that, in 2015, five people, including a catechist and his wife, were killed by lightning St George Barpii Catholic Chapel in the same manner.

The North Kyoga region Police commander, Paul Nkore, said he was not aware of the incident.
