Sep 22, 2020

Alupo is said to have succumbed to high blood pressure and diabetes on September 15 2020.

Parliament will on Tuesday hold a special sitting to pay tribute to the late Faith Alupo, woman Member of Parliament (MP) Pallisa district.

In a motion moved by Kirunda Kivenjinja, the Second Deputy Prime Minister, Alupo has been described as a hardworking, humble and intelligent MP who at 37 years was developmental in the growth of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.

Alupo is said to have suffered from high blood pressure and diabetes, which led to her death on September 15 2020.

In her communication, Speaker Rebecca Kadaga said the husband of the deceased was unable to attend the special sitting as he is under quarantine, a statement that prompted some MPs to call for a clear statement from the government on the cause of the MP's death.

Parliament has also asked the government to be clear on Covid-19 related deaths and numbers.
