Soroti woman MP Angelina Osegge, raised the matter, demanding that the electoral commission should declare which law they will be operating under.

The speaker of parliament Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga has tasked the minister of justice and constitutional affairs, Ephraim Kamuntu, to clarify on alleged threats by the Electoral Commission not to nominate candidates whose names vary with those on their academic documents.

This is after the Soroti woman member of parliament, Angelina Osegge, raised a matter of national importance in which she demanded that the electoral commission should declare which law they will be operating under.

Osegge gave an example of women who take on their husband's names once they get married and says that if the electoral commission is not stopped, this might turn into a witch hunt for some leaders.

This prompted the speaker to summon the minister to clarify on the matter.
