Anite has no authority to teach me about NRM: Ayume

Sep 16, 2020

Ayume expressed shock that in over a week, Anite had chaired over seven press conferences between Koboko and Kampala, which he says shows that she didn't take the loss well.

In a phone interview with the New Vision, Dr.Charles Ayume, the NRM flag bearer for Koboko Municipality in the upcoming 2021 elections, has expressed shock by the comments made by Koboko Municipality MP Evelyn Anite.

On Wednesday, Anite uttered that she would have to first train Ayume on party ideologies and later join his campaign for leadership as he needs panel beating to understand the party system.

In a flashback moment, Ayume, son of the former Speaker of Parliament, the late Francis Ayume defeated Anite in the recently contested seat for Koboko Municipality, by a margin of 768 votes.

Ayume has welcomed Anite to join his campaign team, saying that; "the more, the merrier," but she should not make it seem like she is the alpha and omega to traverse for votes.

He further states that if that was the case, she would have won in the first place. He says ideology is not taught by party members but rather by tutors and according to his knowledge, the teaching usually takes place in Kyankwazi.

Ayume expressed shock that in over a week, Anite had chaired over seven press conferences between Koboko and Kampala, which he says shows that she didn't take the loss well.

"There are several people who lost in the primaries, but they have not taken the loss like Anite. The earlier she accepts it the better. I advise she seeks for counselling services and if I had the chance to speak to the NRM party directorship, I would advise them to plan for counselling services so that whenever people lose, they are helped in order to get a  soft landing," he said, adding that he is a Doctor who can help Anite as time goes on.

GENESIS

In a video captured by Miriam Namutebi, before working with him, Anite says she has to "first rearrange Dr Ayume into being a true member of the NRM party because he has a long way to go, adding that he has to learn the party discipline, and that violence is not part of the party, among other reasons."
