NRM PRIMARIES |
Al Hajji Haruna Ssemakula has won the incumbent Andrew Senyonga for Mukono LC5 chairperson on NRM ticket at Butebe polling grounds in Mukono.
Ssemakula got 97 while Senyonga got 39 in a frenzied exercise at the voting arena.
The exercise started off with the registrar reading names from the voter's register, but when the actual voting started, everyone who wanted to join the queues joined. Early results were putting Ssemakula ahead of Senyonga.
For district councilor, Eric Kyobe edged out Moses Kaddu after a stiff competition that saw undecided voters switching to either queue. Kyobe got 74 votes while Kaddu settled for 50.
Meanwhile, voting at the district had not taken place by 12:30 pm when New Vision left the grounds as officials did not show up.
There was a sizeable number of voters, who got tired and abandoned the exercise.
