SEMBABULE - There is a general sense of calm in Sembabule Town Council as NRM party chairman President Yoweri Museveni visits today (Thursday, September 10, 2020) to meet with party leaders and aspirants in Sembabule district to resolve matters in the area following recent political events.

The meeting, which is expected to take place at Kawanda Secondary School, follows reports that reached the NRM chairman of violence in the Sembabule in the run-up to last week's party primary elections.

The party's electoral commission, headed by Dr. Tanga Odoi, postponed elections in Mawogola West and Mawogola North. One of the hotspots, Mawogola North, features Shartsi Musherure Kutesa, the daughter of foreign affairs minister Sam Kutesa, and Godfrey Aine Kaguta, Museveni's younger brother.

It is hoped Museveni's meeting with the local leaders will help quell the party's political tensions in the area.

Check out the mood on the day of the President's visit:

There is heavy security deployment in the area.

Meanwhile, many residents are going about their daily work.

The Mawogola North party primary election was suspended last week.

The allegiances are clear.

It is a sweltering Thursday afternoon in Sembabule.

There is a measure of serenity in Sembabule Town Council ahead of the President's visit.
