Kibaale records high voter turnout

The Kibaale District National Resistance Movement (NRM) registrar, Ritah Rwakisarale, declared the incumbent Kibaale Woman MP, Noeline Basemera, winner in Friday's party primary elections. Basemera polled 32,913 votes, scoring 88.4%, beating her closest rival Resty Birungi who garnered 4,284 votes, representing 11.6%.

She also declared Matia Kasaija, the finance minister and incumbent Member of Parliament for MP Buyanja Constituency, winner, after he garnered 16,539 votes against his closest rival, Paul positionsKyalimpa, who polled 6,213votes.

Dr Emily Kugonza was declared unopposed for the newly created Buyanja East constituency in Kibaale district.

In Kagadi, Jennifer Kyomuhendo Mbabazi won with 69,092 votes, defeating Margaret Naziwa Rujumba who got 25,943 to carry the NRM flag in the contest for the district Woman MP seat.

Barnabas Tinkasiimire got the flag to contest for the Buyaga West seat again, after garnering 29,789 votes against his closest rival, Dr John Tumwebaze, who got 15,652 votes.

However, a re-voting was announced for Pacwa trading centre in Pacwa sub-county, where the two competing candidates, Eric Musana (MP Buyaga East) and Steven Mwesige Rurekele failed to agree over alleged inflating of results on the declaration forms.

In Kakumiro, Robinah Nabbanja, took the flag to represent the party in the contest for the district Woman MP seat, polling 91,958 votes, while her closest rival, Lilian Mable Bakaine Komugisa, garnered 22,153.

Fred Byamukama took Bugangaizi West with 30,233, defeating Dr Kasirivu Atwooki who got 11,078 votes.

In Bugangaizi South Constituency, Josephat Tumwesigye defeated Gerald Semanda Apuuli.

In Bugangaizi East, Agaba Aisa Black was declared winner with 27,668, against Onesmas Twinamasiko's 21,118.
