NSSF merges another branch as investment in technologies rise

Sep 08, 2020

The affected savers from the Lugazi branch, according to a notice from NSSF, will be merged with its Mukono branch.

Effective September 30, 2020, the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) will shut down its branch located in Lugazi, as the fund takes more client services online.

The affected savers from the Lugazi branch, according to a notice from NSSF, will be merged with its Mukono branch.

"The Lugazi branch will be merged with the Mukono branch effective 30th September 2020. Affected members and employers can access services at the Mukono branch, use the NSSFGo App or the USSD service (*254#)" the notice read in part.

In the last couple of years, NSSF has launched several online services that have helped reduce savers journeys to brick and mortar branches.

For instance, in 2018, the fund launched a new mobile phone application dubbed NSSFGo. The platform gave savers access to more self-service experience than visiting brick and mortar branches.

The application includes services; claim tracking, benefits application, e-statements, and direct contacts to relationship managers among others.

As of June 2019, NSSF had a branch network of 19 branches in the central, eastern, northern, and western parts of Uganda, with six in Kampala. They were at least 25 branches in 2018.
