NRM Primaries: Voting in Katakwi district delayed due to low turnout

Voting in Katakwi district started late due to low turnout Friday Morning.
David Ken Ongede, LC1 Chairperson, Abelebuku village in Katakwi Sub County said some people were engaged in other activities that made them arrive late for the NRM party primaries.
Four women are contesting for the Woman MP NRM party flag bearer including the former education minister, Jessica Alupo Epel and the incubent Violet Akurut Adome.
Alupo and Akurut are in a tight race. Akurut got 222 votes in her polling station at Opedongor village in Palam Sub County while the rest got zero.
In Angopet cell in Katakwi town, Joseph Okonya, the parish NRM registrar Southern Ward said Alupo got 297 votes, Akurut 185 votes, Clare Apuno garned three votes while Angella Anuken got zero.
Akurut said she will continue implementing her projects if she goes through or serve her people in different capacities if she loses.
In Ngariam County, ICT state minister Peter Ogwang is contesting with Augustine Otuko. Four people are contesting for Usuk county while Toroma county has three aspirants.
There are 550 polling stations in Katakwi with over 50,000 registered voters of NRM.
