Hardly one month after being released from Prison, Abdallah Kitatta, the patron of Boda Boda 2010 is back on the campaign trail.

Kitatta who is also the Rubaga Division National Resistance Movement (NRM) Chairman, on Thursday addressed the press and vowed to ensure the opposition is swept out of Kampala.

The NRM will be holding it primaries for Parliamentary candidates tomorrow and Kitatta noted that they will ensure that no hooligans antagonizes the voting process.

Kitatta and his bodyguard, Sowali Ngobi were convicted by the General Court Martial and was supposed to serve 10 years jail term but was released on August 7 after the Appellant Court Martial reduced the ten-year jail term to just three years.

The General Court Martial chaired by Lt. Gen Andrew Guti sentenced Kitatta and Ngobi to 8 years, 8 months and six days in prison for illegal possession of firearms.

However, the six-member appellate court chaired by a civilian advocate, Elly Turyamubona sitting in Makindye, while setting the two free deducted the time the duo has spent on remand from the sentence, saying they will now serve for one year, eight months and six days.

They noted that the ten-year jail term handed to the duo by the General Court Martial in 2019 was too harsh and excessive.

They argued that the maximum punishment should have been handed to hardcore criminals, which wasn't the case with Kitatta and Ngobi.
