Namyalo is gone but her legacy lives on

Sep 02, 2020

She filled our lives with happiness, checking up on everyone wherever we were.

CELEBRATING LIFE

Catherine Namyalo Kasaato was a resident of Kabowa Ssimbwa zone and a wife of George Wiillam Kassaato.

She was also a mother of Fred, Pross, Edward, Rita, Rosco, Ronald, Brian, Josbel and Junior Kasaato.

On August 24, last year at around 6:00pm, she was rushed to Nsambya Hospital with a severe headache.

She was scanned and the results showed she had she had a brain clot and needed immediate surgery.

However, as plans were being made to have the surgeon come in, mummy died six hours later on August 25, 2019.

We shall never forget the time the news hit us.

Attributes

Namyalo had a special gift of generosity and held the belief that you should help everybody, irrespective of whether they will pay back or not.

To her, everybody was important. She loved dressing new family members in white, which was her favourite.

The next family member would also wear that piece. This cycle would continue to the next child.

As we grew up, this care would soon be elevated to another level in terms of looking smart and neat.

Even when were old enough to dress ourselves, she loved seeing us doing it to perfection.

To us, her nine children, she was not only a mother, but a friend. She always encouraged us to work hard in order to live a good life.

She tolerated us, consoled us during heartbreaks and disappointments, and also shared in our happy moments.

She filled our lives with happiness, checking up on everyone wherever we were.

Her satisfaction was in seeing her family have the best.

Her love for her grandchildren was adorable as she nursed these from birth, took keen interest in them as they grew and surprisingly knew each of their birthdays.

Sometimes, before their own parents could say, "happy birthday" she would have made an early call to congratulate the young ones on this achievement.

We shall forever cherish those lovely Sunday moments with her grandchildren and how they loved calling her Jajja and reporting to her how so and so had beaten them.

Social life

She loved having people around her — relatives, friends, children's friends.

This made her home in Kabowa to be known for the special gatherings and the spicy meals we called Kimere.

she had this special memory; she recalled our relatives and where they resided, but more so she even knew daddy's relative better than him.

The family chef

The passion she had for cooking brought out the best in her final product in every meal she put on the table, whether it was an occasion or ordinary day.

On the festive days of Easter and Christmas, she would even plan for unknown visitors and if someone arrived, he or she would get their full share of the feast.
