Several National Resistance Movement (NRM) district administrative secretaries are in trouble for allegedly swindling money meant for flag bearers in Special Interest Groups (SIG) elections.

Addressing journalists at the party headquarters at Plot 10 Kyadondo in Kampala this afternoon the director for communication, Emmanuel Dombo, said a number of officials have already been arrested.

He said others were still on the run as police hunt for them. "We are doing this to show the country that NRM is a transparent party," he said.

According to Dombo, the party provided Sh5000 as facilitation to every party flag bearer who participated in the special interest groups (SIGs) elections at the village level held recently.

Dombo said the party swung into action after the flag bearers raised complaints to the party leadership through different social media platforms and the party's official channels.

He said among those arrested include the Buikwe administrative secretary, Saudah Nankya Sentamu.

Nankya was arrested by police in Buikwe on Wednesday last week and released on police bond after she allegedly paid Sh10m out of the Sh20.5m she purportedly swindled.
