Masaka traders in tears after their property are burnt to ashes

The affected traders mostly deal in furniture and their property was housed in a workshop situated on Buddu Street.

Traders are counting losses after property worth billions of shillings were burnt in Masaka City on Sunday morning.

The affected traders mostly deal in furniture and their property was housed in a workshop situated on Buddu Street.

Alex Katashisha, the owner of the workshop, said he had been accommodating over 45 traders dealing in timber and a mobile money kiosks, with a training centre for street children.
 
All this was reduced to ashes.

Bosco Abimanya, a timber dealer, said fire broke out at about 2am.

He explained that although the firefighters arrived in time, the fire was too much for them to handle.

The cause of fire has not yet been established.
