KAMPALA - "Those who claim that I work for opposition and make it a crime have little brain because in 2005, we agreed to go multiparty and the MPs in Parliament are from different political parties." The Speak of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga remarked while addressing journalists on Friday.
She added; "But what I want to know why those who speak about that, sit in cabinet with Betty Amongi, who is a UPC, Beti Kamya from Federal Alliance, Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi, a DP, Beatrice Anywar from FDC and Alex Onzima, an FDC. That is why I say they have little brains."
Kadaga defeated Persis Namuganza, the lands state minister to retain her position with 6,776 votes against Namuganza's 3,882 after a tough campaign.
Before the party's CEC polls, the Government Chief Whip, Ruth Nankabirwa had boosted Namuganza CEC bid at the chagrin of Kadaga and her campaign team.
"We want people who will sacrifice for the party, not those who betray us by working with the opposition.
We should let in Namuganza to help Museveni. We will not support anyone who does not respect CEC." This was contained in the message Nankabirwa shared with delegates shortly before the polls.
However Nankabirwa during a parliamentary session last week congratulated Kadaga and her deputy Jacob Oulanyah for winning CEC positions.
However, Kadaga commended all those who supported her including the First Lady and the Education Minister, Janet Museveni in her capacity as Ntungamo NRM chairperson.
