Aug 28, 2020

All six radio stations owned by Vision Group across the country can now be accessed in one place.

Vision Group has this morning unpacked yet another service for her audience. In another market-leading innovation, all the six radio stations owned by Vision Group across the country can be accessed in one place, the New Vision digital platform.

"We are now streaming the signals from all our radio stations in the digital platform. Our audiences can now comfortably listen to and switch between XFM, Bukedde FM, Etop FM, Radio West, Rupiny FM and Arua One FM on their phones," Vision's head of IT, Paul Ikanza, explained.

With the addition of all six radio stations, the company projects even greater engagement on the platform that has been lauded as new age and versatile. The move is aimed at meeting audience needs even further by offering them an opportunity to stay significantly longer once they get onto the platform.

"The radio streams have also been done with engagement factored in; chats, comments, picture sharing and so on. All this creates a dynamic experience and it shows with the numbers because as soon as we launched, we have had, on average, twice the numbers on the platform," Ikanza noted.

With 45% of the current audience being from the diaspora, the six radio stations offer a variety of Ugandans a chance to connect with home and stay updated about what is happening in their home districts.

"This is a big step in our integration journey that is allowing Vision Group to serve her various audiences on one platform. The audience is now able to find our content (text, audio and video) in one place," explained Barbara Kaija, Vision Group's Editor in Chief.

The addition of the radio streams to the digital experience comes hardly two weeks after Augumented Reality (AR), another dynamic innovation, was unveiled on the platform.

AR has allowed our audiences to engage with print, in an exciting digital media experiences. New Vision and Bukedde newspaper readers can now access more than just the text in the newspapers, by being able to watch videos of the events written about, right off their newspaper.

"This is one of the first experiences on the African continent that allows users to bridge the gap between the physical and digital world.  Simply by scanning a picture in the newspaper with the AR feature in the App, one is able to watch video, right off their newspaper," Ikanza explained earlier at the launch.

Kaija further explained that all the innovations and continued improvements are in line with the company's Vision, "To be a trusted content hub of choice" and Mission. "To generate and distribute content that is valuable and advances society".

"We are not only talking about transformation, but delivering it. We shall keep innovating and therefore invite all our audiences to join us on this digital journey," she said.
