Today In History: Bobi weds Barbie

Nine years ago today, Bobi Wine aka Robert Kyagulanyi and his wife Barbie tied the note at Rubaga Cathedral Kampala. The couple was married by Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga in a widely talked about ceremony, mostly because of Barbie's new tattoo, a huge face of her fiance on her back. In attendance were royals, the Nnabagereka of Buganda Sylvia Nagginda and Prince David Wassajja. 





How they met

They couple met at the National theatre in 2001. Barbie was in her S.6 vacation and Bobi was in his last year at makerere university. They were both actors in "Lady Will you marry me."

Bobi gave Barbie grapes and asked her if they could be friends, but she was uncomfortable with him at first because she saw him as a bad boy with dreadlocks.

Barbie found out that Bobi was a reggae artiste and that he was a celebrity. With time, they became close and developed a relationship.

On May 12, 2007, Barbie introduced Bobi to her parents, gershom and Joy Kagaaso in Ntugamo district and the rest is history.
