The Archbishop also urged Christians to get proper land titles to prevent falling prey to men with money, who are grabbing land.

The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, the Rt. Rev. Dr Samuel Kaziimba, on Thursday, launched a sh1.5b church built by Christians in Kitende.

The Archbishop commended Christians for their dedication and commitment to building the church.

"This is an indication of committed people, who are ready to promote God's work," Kaziimba told Christians while presiding over the launch of St Mark's Church of Uganda, Kitende in Wakiso district.

He encouraged other Christians across the country to emulate members of St Mark's Church of Uganda.

He castigated those who think building a big church is a waste of money. "I am overjoyed to see the Church being constructed, it is a source of comfort.

We now have restoration of lives, while others are thinking of building arcades," Kaziimba said.

He encouraged Christians to adhere to the health ministry guidelines to combat the coronavirus disease, but also as a way to motivate President Yoweri Museveni to open churches, which have remained closed since March. Dr Kaziimba criticised those who demolished St Peter's Church in Ndeeba last week.

He told the congregation that those who demolished the Church cannot go unpunished. "Those who demolished the Church in Ndeeba will be punished by God because He is a Lord of justice, but He is also a God of mercy if you repent," Dr Kaziimba stated.

He added: "When you are disobedient, you cannot go unpunished." He urged Christians to respect the temple of God and be obedient to his call. "The Lord is asking us to be obedient to ensure that His buildings are protected and not demolished," he said.

The Archbishop also urged Christians to get proper land titles to prevent falling prey to men with money, who are grabbing land. "You should get proper land titles because the world is becoming crazy, there are people who are looking for land to grab. Money has made man mad," he said.

According to the Bishop of Namirembe Diocese, Rt. Rev. Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira, it is two years since the foundation stone was laid at St Mark‘s Church of Uganda in Kitende.

Margaret Kawumi, the chairperson building committee, told the congregation that even during the COVID-19 lockdown, construction of the church did not stop.
