Ngora LC5 leaves politics after losing FDC primaries

Eumu who doubles as the FDC Deputy Secretary for mobilisation Eastern region has been in leadership for 10 years and was defeated by only three votes.

Ngora District LC5 chairperson, Bernard Eumu has bowed out of politics after he lost the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Party primary elections for the seat of the Member of Parliament (MP) Kapir New County.

Eumu who doubles as the FDC Deputy Secretary for mobilisation Eastern region has been in leadership  for 10 years and was defeated by only three votes.

The two-time MP candidate, David Livingston Okurut , a journalist won the FDC flagship for MP seat Kapir County after garnering 199 votes against his closest rival Eumu who got 196 votes.

Ben Ocan, a three-time contestant for the MP seat took the third position with only 59 votes.
Eumu conceded defeat saying; "whether the electorates voted because of money or they were deceived, I will now return home to become a farmer."

"I have respected the decision of the people and there is no need to object to that, now I am returning home to be a farmer. I will never contest as an independent candidate," Eumu said.

Okurut was excited to have been able to become the flag-bearer and vowed to win the final elections.
Former Ngora County MP, Dr. Francis Epetait won the MP seat for FDC flag-bearer for the same constituency after getting 320 votes beating Paul Emaru ,72 votes and Charles Aeko at 64.

Epetait commended their Electoral Commission for being transparent and vowed to ensure that FDC sweeps all the positions in the district.

Simon Peter Okello, the FDC returning officer Ngora declared the results at Kobuku tally centre on Thursday afternoon amidst ululations from the winner's side.

On August 5, 2020, Apolot Stella Isodo ‘Ejulano' was elected the FDC flag-bearer for District Woman MP Ngora beating Sarah Eperu. The same day, Jacob Otai was announced FDC flag-bearer for LC5 Chairpersons seat.  Otai beat James Okiror and Sam Okurut.

Nelson Okiring the District FDC Chairperson and the party's General Secretary in Ngora, Michael Erute Olaboro called for unity after elections so that the candidates win the final elections.

The FDC flag-bearers will now tassel it out with candidates of other parties during the final elections next year.
