Hundreds displaced as 3 major rivers burst banks in western Uganda

Property worth millions of shillings, including a church, were swept away.

Hundreds of people have been displaced after two rivers in Kasese district and one in neighbouring Bundibugyo burst their banks, flooding surrounding areas.
 
In Kasese, Uganda Redcross Society (URCS) confirmed that Nyamwamba and Mubuku rivers had filled up and flooded nearby areas.

As a result, one security guard was trapped in the floods while many people had been displaced.
River Lamia bursts banks
 
In Bundibugyo, River Lamia which runs along the Uganda-DR Congo border had also burst its banks.

URCS said their workers were on the ground to assess the situation.
