MARRIAGE   CELEBRATIONS

When you speak about a wedding, most people will think about the hustle one has to go through to organise one.

However, Rachael Ndagire and Henry Lubwama, had their wedding take place in a scientific way and this helped them save sh30m.

"Initially we had planned to spend over sh50m but when the President put the lockdown, he also said that wedding can continue but with few people this encouraged us to go ahead," says Ndagire.

She added that they had wanted to wed and celebrate with many friends and family but this would require them to postpone their wedding. However, since they had dated for long, they noticed that postponing their wedding because of COVID-19 was not a good idea.

"So we decided to go ahead with our wedding preparations and on August 2 2020 we had our wedding take place," says Ndagire.

About the wedding

It happened at Seventh Day Adventist Church in Najjanankumbi and it was presided over by Pastor David Ssimwogerere.

The wedding service had ten people who witnessed the couple make vows to each other.

The reception was held at Hotel Africana and it had 60 guests who observed the COVID -19 guidelines of wearing masks, social distancing.

The couple danced and had fun in celebration of what it had achieved.

Expenditure

Ndagire says that since they were planning to do things in a scientific way, they did not spend a lot of money.

We spent sh1.3m on the bridal gown, sh1.5 on suites, sh2m on decoration and sh500, 000 on makeup. The other things we spent on were church fee, venue for the reception and food, "explains Ndagire.

Pastor's word of encouragement

While presiding over the wedding Pastor Simwogerege encouraged the couple to love each other and stick to the vows they had made on their wedding day.

Lubwama says they were told to always put God first in whatever they do in their marriage. This is because; God is the author of marriage.

Lubwama adds that one thing he will not forget is to love respect and always treat his wife as a queen of his heart. "She is mine and I will love and protect her always,'' he said.

While speaking to their guests at Hotel Africana the Lubwama's encouraged other couples out their not to wait for COVID-19 to go away so they could wed. "No one knows when and how COVID-19 will leave this country. So go ahead and wed so that you start living together as husband and wife," said the Lubwama's.
