“Some of you date until you become outdated, there is no ideal time. Some date for six months and get married but why wait for 10 years."

RELATIONSHIP & DATING

People Power Movement spokes-person Joel Ssenyonyi and his wife Febress Nagawa's love story reads like a fairy tale.

Watching them playfully holding and smiling at each other's joke, during a You Tube interview with a photography company, three things become very clear: These two are friends, in love and they are comfortable with each other.

The chemistry between them felt so fresh. The couple looked happy, relaxed and casual as they shared their love story.

Wearing a red top and simple makeup, Nagawa kept on rolling her eyes at the same time displaying her new wedding ring alongside her engagement ring.

"For the record, I am not a virgin anymore and she is responsible," said Ssenyonyi. Though it came out clearly that Ssenyonyi got married while a virgin, it was not so clear with the wife.

The couple held a scientific wedding in June at Watoto Church amidst the lockdown. They describe the day as the happiest day of their lives.

Love Journey

The two met in 2014 at Watoto Church after a fellowship, the first day Ssenyonyi bumped into her, he developed butterflies in the stomach.

That marked the beginning of their love story.

Because Joel had never seen a woman as beautiful as Febress, he decided to be patient, praying that she would be the first woman he would have sex with and according to him, he was a virgin on his wedding night.

"We both serve at Watoto Church, I had always seen beautiful girls, but when I saw her I was like who is that, she greeted the people I was with and when she approached me I did not want to show my weakness so I acted like I did not want to greet her," noted Ssenyonyi.

After the greeting session, they both connected, they became friends and Ssenyonyi started dropping her back home to the extent that Nagawa's brother noticed the usual car at their gate, later he started taking her for coffee and lunch.

"I would see the good acts, he would push himself and go an extra mile to take me for coffee and lunch," said Nagawa.

Their real dating started last year in February when Ssenyonyi asked her hand in marriage.

"I thought I would get married at 25years but it did not happen until I was 33. I wanted to marry a friend who was God fearing and with my wife we would click. No wonder when I popped the questions of will you marry me, she could not wait to say yes," revealed Ssenyonyi.

Nagawa said that she was drawn to Joel by his virtuous and focused nature. He had most of the characteristics she wanted in a husband.

"I like his passion to God, he is loving, intelligent and true to himself," she said.

Advise

They advised couples to remain good friends and committed to one another and also reminded singles who want to stay pure till marriage, to avoid temptations.

"Some of you date until you become outdated, there is no ideal time. Some date for six months and get married but why wait for 10 years. I encourage those who are waiting to be strong, it is not easy but stay away from temptations?" advised Ssenyonyi.

Meanwhile, last week Ssenyonyi took it to social media and shared the news with his fans of how he is becoming a Ssalongo (Father of twins).
