The surprise incident sent shocked club members that had sought shelter scampering for safety.

Pandemonium broke out at the Uganda Golf Club as part of the roof at the clubhouse collapsed during Wednesday downpour.

The surprise incident sent shocked club members that had sought shelter scampering for safety. The strong storm caused the big Toyota advertising board on top of the clubhouse to collapse tearing through the iron sheets, causing a big hole in the roof.

"These are the remains of the roof inside the clubhouse at Uganda Golf. We were seated inside here and the next thing we hear is the roof falling on us. We took off and my goodness we just survived. It is terrible but everyone is safe," John Katto can be heard in a video he later shared with the media.

Founded in 1908, the Uganda Golf Club is probably one of the oldest and best and most maintained courses in the country. The Uganda Golf Club has a series of bunkers and the Kitante stream that gives the course a character of its own.

The clubhouse is continuously refurbished to match the latest trends by some of the sponsors of the club.
