Belarus confirms death of jailed protester

Belarus on Wednesday said that a young man detained at a street protest over the country's disputed presidential election died after being transferred to a prison.

The Investigative Committee said in a statement that the 25-year-old man died after he was detained on Sunday in the southeastern city of Gomel and sentenced to 10 days in prison.
