Two senior police officers, five army officers charged in army court

They are charged with sharing security information with Rwanda Intelligence Agencies.

Two senior police officers have been charged before the army court over charges relating to security.

They are ASP Benon Akandwanaho the community Liaison Officer at Kira Police station and ASP Frank Sabiiti who were on Monday (August 10, 2020) arraigned before court and charged with sharing security information with Rwanda Intelligence Agencies.

 They were charged alongside five UPDF officers including Second Lt Alex Kasamula, 31, attached to military police, Second Lt Phillip Ankunda, 30, attached to SFC headquarters as a pilot, Pte Ndwaine Nathan, 27, a student in flight engineering and maintenance at Nakasongola barracks, Pte Asiimwe Moses, 27, and Pte Mugabi Godfrey also a flight engineer.

LT Gen Andrew Gutti the court chairman read the charges to which they pleaded not guilty. He remanded them to the military police barracks until August 31, 2020.
