Man held over double murder

KABALE- Police in Kabale district, are holding a man accused of killing two people and injuring two others last Saturday (August 8, 2020).

John Mugisha, 40, a resident of Nyakahita village, allegedly killed his step-brother identified as Steven Twebaze, 35, before proceeding to Nyamugoma village in Kaharo Parish, Kaharo Sub County, where he allegedly hacked his step-mother, Jacinta Birungi,55, to death.

Mugisha also reportedly injured his step-sister, Annah Tukamushaba, 20, and a one Willy Turyasingura, 31.

The Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson, Elly Maate, said, a man-hunt was mounted for the suspect until he was unearthed.

"Before we arrested him, Mugisha was threatening to kill four other people and also commit suicide," said Maate.

Police said the suspect accuses the victims of taking part in the malicious damage and burning of Nyamugoma Catholic Church fence.

"We took the injured to hospital and a postmortem on the deceased has been done by the regional surgeon from the site as investigations into the matter continue under case number CRB 748/2020," Matte said.
