COVID-19

Children are at home keeping safe from COVID-19. Because of this, they are left with no option but to read, learn and revise from home.

Children who are reading and learning with Toto magazine shared their stories with Stella Naigino.

Today when you meet Samuel Mayanja and ask him about what is keeping him busy at home, he will quickly tell you about how he reads and learns with Toto magazine. He will even tell you to always get a copy of Toto magazine for your children every Wednesday in the New vision.

Mayanja is in Primary One at St Kizito Clever Junior School, Namilyango and he says one way he is beating boredom in the lockdown is through reading and learning with Toto magazine.

I wake up in the morning brush my teeth and bathe. After I have breakfast and then pick my Toto magazine and start reading. It has a lot of things that I look out for. I love the science experience series, the stories of children doing different things and recently they introduced schoolwork. It has kept me busy in the lockdown.

I also enjoy filling in the puzzle. It makes me think and incase I feel challenged, I ask for help from my parents or siblings. The puzzle is so much fun that sometimes we fail to fill it and look forward to the next Toto to get answers. This has kept me busy all through, thanks to the Toto Magazine editor.

Mayanja is not alone. Tasha Esther Nasaka, a Primary Four pupil of St Kizito Clever Junior School says reading Toto magazine do it yourself stories makes her day. Later she also tries out on what other children do. She also loves the child street patrol. It is fun and very educative. She says reading Toto magazine stories has helped them improve their reading and writing.

Before the Lockdown, we used not to pay much attention to Toto magazine stories, I only used to look out for particular things like puzzles but today I read Toto magazine from one page to another.

Bravo Vision Group for keeping us busy and entertained through Toto magazine. I also love the fashion page and birthday wishes page, although I have never appeared there.

Parents of Gabriella Auma are also grateful for the learning material that Toto magazine brings their daughter every Wednesday.
The magazine has a lot that has kept Auma busy. She can shade, join the dots, recite sounds and match pictures. This has left our child busy and she no longer asks to go back to school.

Every morning she does her work in the magazine with the supervision of her brother.
