COVID19: Police closes four motels in Mbarara city

According to Samson Kasasira, the police spokesperson, Rwampara Suites was closed off for safety purposes because of its close proximity with Leisure Park International.

Police in Mbarara city on Saturday closed four  Motels for allegedly hosting COVID-19 suspected positive persons and their contacts. 

These include; Rwampara Suites, Leisure Park International, African Guest House, and Golden Monkey Guest House. All these are located in Kakoba Division, including Acacia Hotel. 

One of the suspects was housed at Acacia Hotel, his driver had spent a night at African Guest House, another suspect who deals in forex trade at the Mutukula border had spent a night at Leisure Park International and another at Golden Monkey Guest House where he shared a room with a friend. 

According to Samson Kasasira, the police spokesperson, Rwampara Suites was closed off for safety purposes because of its close proximity with Leisure Park International.

According to Emmy Katera, the deputy RDC Mbarara District/Mbarara City, the patients have been referred to Mbarara Regional referral hospital for treatment.

He said the samples of their contacts have been taken for examination and quarantined at Rwetanga Farm Institute.

"All workers at the mentioned motels and hotel have had their simples taken for examination, while those who allegedly interacted with the victims and their contacts have been quarantined,"  Katera said.
