YY bus involved in accident, 29 survive

A YY coach bus Registration number Number UAS 765V plying the Mbale Kampala route has been involved in a serious accident this evening at Saala, Kirika sub-county Kibuku district.

A statement released by the bus company confirmed the incident and noted that all the 29 passengers had not been injured.

"This afternoon, one of our coachers Registration number No. UAS 765V destined for Mbale was involved in an accident along Tirinyi village in Kadama trading center. No deaths have been recorded however a number of passengers were injured. The injured shall be accorded treatment at the expense of the company. We request for your calm as we an official police statement on the cause of the accident," the statement indicated.

In August last year, Police summoned the management of YY Coaches and temporarily suspended their buses since they were involved in three different accidents in a spate of one week.

The buses later resumed their travels after their drivers were subjected to fresh driving tests by police.
