Police in Jinja city has summoned four Baba FM radio presenters over allegations of inciting violence and disobedience of lawful orders.
The four are Yasin Muyonjo, comedian Swengere, Peter Kasolo, Atanazi Kalwoya and Aggrey Irongo.
The accused were all represented by Abedi Nassar Muduboole. He said while recording their statements, they were asked why they hosted Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi (Bobi wine) of People Power on a radio talk show on July 18, 2020.
"I wonder why National Resistance Movement Members of Parliament being hosted on various radio talk shows are not being arrested nor the presenters being summoned by Police," Muduboole said.
He noted that all the accused persons were granted a non-cash bond and are supposed to report back on August 4. Kasolo who intends to contest for Jinja city mayor-ship under People Power said the allegations against them were politically motivated.
"The radio is for informing people, we host various leaders from different political parties that serve the communities. Police summoning us is interested in why we hosted Bobi Wine and not the allegations as stated on the charge sheet," he said.
Muyonjo (Swengere) said he was questioned about the dog and a small coffin, which were retrieved from one of the cars of Bobi Wine's supporters.
Earlier Tahwiri Ddamulira, another presenter from the same radio station who was arrested last week and detained at Nalufunya Police Station had his bond extended to August 4. Ddamulira says Police has not clearly stated the charges which caused his arrest.
