COVID -19: Prisons worried about increasing number of inmates

Jul 28, 2020

The Uganda Prisons Service is worried about the increasing number of inmates fearing that with time new inmates will not have space for accommodation.

Frank Baine, the prisons spokesperson said the increasing numbers is as a result of people failing to adhere to the Ministry of Health Standard Operating Procedures and end up in the hands of joint security teams.

He said the number of inmates had dropped from 52% to 47% by November last year but now the numbers have risen to 53%.
