Traders continue to strike as landlords demand rent arrears

Today morning traders at Premier Arcade along Nabugabo in Kampala continued with their strike protesting the owner's decision to demand them pay for the past four months of the lockdown period.

David Mutebi, the property owner says regardless of the time spent when the shops were closed, traders have to pay him all months as per the calendar year. 

However, the traders,  say they have no money for the past months since they have not been working as the President closed businesses as one of the measures to control the spread of coronavirus. 

Police have arrested several of the traders and taken them to Central Police Station Kampala.
