Medical Expert Sent to Jail over Rape

City Hall Court has remanded a medical personnel for allegedly raping a pregnant woman.

The charged is Wilson Tumwesigye, a radiographer at Kamwokya Christian Caring Community Clinic in Kampala.

Tumwesigye is accused of forcefully having sex with a pregnant patient who had gone to the said clinic for her regular monthly medical checkups.

On arrival in court, Grade One Magistrate, Valerian Tuhimbise read him the charge but declined him from taking plea, saying the charge against him was capital in nature, therefore tribal by the High Court.

"Listen carefully to the charges against you but don't plea. Reserve all your complaints, you will only air them before the High Court which has jurisdiction of the offence you allegedly committed," Tuhimbise said.

It is purported that Tumwesigye committed the said offences on March 29, 2020.

The accused was remanded to Kitalya Government Prison and the case adjourned to July 30, 2020 for mention due to pending investigations.
