Residents of Karangura sub-county in Kabarole district are protesting a decision by the district council to reallocate funds for the construction of a seed school in the area.

In a petition to the Resident District Commissioner for Kabarole, Stephen Asiimwe, the residents allege that in 2012, government pledged to construct a seed school in the sub-county.

Alex Baluku a resident of Karangura said the only school in the sub-county, St. Joseph's Secondary School, was in poor state. The Government decided to construct a seed school in the sub-county. Baluku said they have lived without a secondary school for several years.

He said their children are forced to trek long distances to access education. Fred Mwesige, another resident, said if the seed school had been constructed, it would have saved their children the burden of crossing Mpanga River, to go to school.
