The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has today unveiled a group of youths that will be in charge of safeguarding their candidates' votes come 2021, general elections.

The group is being commanded by Habib Buwembo, one of the FDC party members, and it has been backed and launched officially by a renowned activist, Dr. Stella Nyanzi, today in Mutundwe, a Kampala city suburb, in Lubaga Division.

Buwembo said, their aim is to recruit 2000 members from each Division that makes up Kampala City.

"We have started with Lubaga United Forces Brigade, but the recruitment exercise will run in other remaining Divisions across Kampala to ensure that our mission is fulfilled," he said.

He added that although they are not an armed militia group, they will make sure, they cover other areas outside Kampala, to ensure that FDC votes are not rigged.

With the existence of the United Forces Brigade, Nyanzi, said, they will not give any body a chance to block their activities during the elections.

"The good thing is we do not have guns. Our fight will be verbal, this has given me more momentum to push on with my political career," she said.

Later, Police intervened and ordered all of the group members to vacate the venue where they were being briefed from.
