A refugee of Congolese nationality has been arrested on offences of murder after stabbing his colleague at Kisenyi in Central Division, Kampala City.
This was after the two Congolese refugees had a misunderstanding over a piece of soap, Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, said in a statement Friday (July 17, 2020).
It is alleged that a Congolese national only identified as Kasanovo went to a makeshift restaurant in Kisenyi where he found a colleague, Inyati Claudia Malaga, who works at the restaurant. The fight reportedly started after Kasanavo grabbed a piece of soap from Mulaga to use.
"Mulaga got annoyed, grabbed a knife and stabbed Kasanovo, who died instantly," Onyango said.
The community arrested Mulaga and handed him over to the police.
The suspect is currently detained at Old Kampala Police Station on murder charges.
The body of the deceased was taken to city mortuary at Mulago for postmortem examination.
"We appeal to the community not resolve issues through violent means, but seek amicable methods," Onyango said.
