Three family members perish in Masaka road accident

The deceased have been identified as Allan Agaba, a resident of Makindye Kampala, his son Jeremiah aged three years and one Anna Kansiime.

ACCIDENT  

Three relatives are confirmed dead in a road accident that occurred at Kibukuta swamp, between Mbizzinnya and Nabusanke, along Masaka road on Friday evening, while one was rushed to hospital.

 The accident occurred after a lorry, registration number UBF 152Z, carrying sand from Lwera heading to Kampala collided with a Mercedes Benz registration number UBG 026S, heading to western Uganda.

The deceased have been identified as Allan Agaba, a resident of Makindye Kampala, his son Jeremiah aged three years and one Anna Kansiime. They were reportedly heading to Kiruhura to attend a wedding ceremony.

According to District Police Commander Mpigi, Frank Natamba who visited the scene, the Benz driver was overtaking other cars when the head-on collision occurred.

Police faced difficulties cutting up the small car to save the driver, Ben Byamukama, who was trapped in the wreckage. He was rushed to Nkozi Hospital for medical attention.

Police are hunting for the driver of the truck, who fled the scene.
