Residents tipped on saving
The state minister for micro finance, Harunah Kyeyune Kasolo has advised residents of Kira to develop a savings culture.
He emphasised that this would fight poverty.
The minister was speaking during the launch of the programme dubbed Presidential Initiative on Wealth and Job Creation (EMYOOGA) at Kira municipality headquarters.
The meeting attracted leaders from different groups. The representatives included carpenters, tailors,  taxi operators,  restaurant owners, PWDs,  produce dealers, mechanics, fishermen and local artistes.

Transformer bursts into flames in Kampala

Two transformers at the former Coffee Marketing Board head office in Bugolobi have burst into flames destroying property.

The cause of the fire has not yet been established. 

Ben Gatunyu the manager of the factory has revealed no fatalities or injuries were caused.

Taxis impounded

Police and KCCA have impounded taxis that were ferrying passengers from Burton Street in Kampala. This comes after the Minister of Kampala Betty Amongi suspended all illegal stages in the city. Some of the affected stages are Bukasa, Kirinya, Bwewyogerere, Kireka, Banda and Mukono. The impounded taxis were towed to the KCCA play ground in Lugogo.

Mukono elderly smile after receiving donations

The COVID19 pandemic has affected many Ugandans especially those living below one dollar.

Some of the elderly in Mukono have received donations from wellwishers.

Jane Nakato 63, from Kavule village in Mukono taking care of her 16 grandchildren is among the elderly who have received the donations.

Eric Yiga spent the day in Mukono.
