Uganda's cumulative COVID-19 cases have hit the 1,000 mark, the Ministry of Health has confirmed.
A press release on Thursday said 23 more cases were confirmed from the 3,316 samples tested, bringing the total registered number to 1,000.
Of the 23 cases, 12 were of Ugandans who came from abroad and were under quarantine at the time of testing.
Three cases were of truck drivers while eight were from contacts and alerts.
About 31 cases of foreign truck drivers who tested positive for the virus were returned to their countries of origin.
Uganda has so far registered 908 recoveries with no single death so far recorded. Recoveries include both Ugandans and non-Ugandans who were admitted here because they could not be repatriated immediately.
