The chaplain of St Augustine chapel Makerere, Fr Josephat Ddungu had invited journalists and promised unfettered access to the footage, saying he had been receiving incessant calls over the issue.
Makerere Police and forensic detectives however said they could not let journalists access the footage, arguing that investigations were still ongoing.
The detectives spent over three hours extracting the footage and did not grant anyone access the process, including student leaders who were told to wait until they had finished extracting the footage.
The OC CID Makerere Priscilla Amuko asked the journalists to give the Police more time.
After further probing from journalists, SP Samuel Odong, Wandegeya district Police commander, showed up at the scene, but only to have a closed door discussion with Fr Ddungu in the chapel.
