Yemen communities in Uganda contributes money in the fight of COVID-19 pandemic

Yemen Muslim communities in Uganda have donated sh10m in the fight COVID-19 pandemic.

The donation was received by the first deputy Prime Minister Moses Ali, Mary Karooro Okurut, the Minister for General Duties in the Office of the Prime Minister and Dorothy Kisaka, the secretary and administrator COVID-19 National Task Force.

Speaking after handing over the cash while at the at office of the Prime Minister (OPM) recently, Hajji Ali Mahammad Mazrui, and the vice chairman Yemen community said it is everyone's responsibility to give a hand in the fight of COVID-19 pandemic.

"On behalf of the Yemen communities in Eastern Region, it was our pleasures to give the little we have in this fight,'' Mazrui noted.

He also applauded President Museveni for his efforts and leadership in the fight against COVID-19.

"Uganda has set a good record in Africa in fighting of COVID-19," he said.

Mazrui who was accompanied by Hajji Musana Kawanguzi, the head of protocol Uganda Muslim Supreme Council said like Yemen communities, other people should also come on board.

He thanked the minister of Health and Ugandans for demonstrating high level of discipline towards the fight against COVID-19, saying if all follow the rules and regulation, we shall overcome the pandemic.

Gen. Moses Ali applauded the Yemen communities for their contribution saying the task force has received contributions from various individuals and organisations which indicates that Uganda is more united than ever.

‘'Uganda is determined to win the war against COVID-19 and this is evidenced by its collective effort from people and organization," he noted.

Karooro assured the donors that the money will be put into proper use.

She however, upon Ugandans to remain vigilant and keep the standard operational procedures laid by the ministry of health.
