Body of 12-year-old girl found in city septic tank

Nampewo was a P4 pupil at Kanyange Primary School and according to her grandmother, Mariam Nakku, the girl got lost on Monday.

The Police in Maganjo, Wakiso district are investigating circumstances under which the body of a 12-year-old girl was dumped into a septic tank.

The incident happened at Maganjo cell in Nabweru division where Kisakye Nampewo's body was discovered.

Nampewo was a P4 pupil at Kanyange Primary School and according to her grandmother, Mariam Nakku, the girl got lost on Monday.

Nakku said when she came back from the garden and found that the girl was missing, at first she thought Nampewo had gone to play with friends and would later return.

At around 3pm, Nakku asked Nampewo's friends whether they had seen her. When the friends said they had seen her, Nakku then started making calls to known family members but none seemed to have seen the girl.

That is when she decided to go to Katooke Police Post to open a case of missing child.

On Saturday evening, people in the Maganjo neighbourhood were hit by a bad smell, whose origin was traced to a septic tank at a nearby house. 

When they removed the cover of the septic tank, they found a decomposing body. 

Residents called in the Police who were led by Alex Bongomin. 

Wilton Kambugu, the father of the deceased, said after getting information that his daughter was missing, he tried to enquire from all Police stations but the girl was not there.

Kambugu has appealed to the Police to bring to book the killers of his daughter.
 
Samuel Kabiswa, the village chairperson, appealed to the residents to be more vigilant and monitor their children's movements closely. 

Bongomin said investigations into the unfortunate incident were under while the body was taken to Mulago Referral Hospital for postmortem.
