Vendors were cautioned to observe social distancing, wear face masks, and main other standard operating procedures, in order to avoid the spread of Covid-19.

Inter-agency task force moves to promote water transport cargo, as preferred to road transport cargo, in the fight against COVID19.

For the move to be effected, the Inter-agency task force, chairperson Maj. Gen. Leopold Kyanda, on Thursday led a team of security officials on a tour around Luzira Port Bell.
The team inspected the MV Pamba ship, which is currently under comprehensive refurbishment.

Maj. Gen. Kyanda, who doubles as the Joint Chief of Staff, said President Yoweri Museveni is considering the use of water transport cargo, which is cheaper than road transport, given the cost of road rehabilitation.

He added that the Mango Tree Group, a Chinese company, which was contracted to renovate MV Pamba, is expected to complete the work in a period of four months.
