To wear or not to wear a mask

As the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus rises to over 700, in Uganda, Boda-boda riders continue to ignore government directives of wearing face masks properly and practicing social distancing.

Many Ugandans continue to adhere to the directives given by President Yoweri Museveni and the Ministry of Health, in regards to combating the spread of Covid-19. 

However, others continue to defy these directives, and only comply after seeing security personnel and camerapersons. 

Our photojournalist, Richard Sanya, captured pictures of how right or wrong people are wearing their masks and how others are defying the social distancing guideline. 

No masks or social distancing here...

The number of people allowed to move in private cars was reviewed from three to four, and the occupants were directed to wear face masks at all times. However, this is yet to be achieved.

With the installation of Video surveillance camera (CCTV) on many streets in Kampala, one would expect people to be wearing masks and complying with social distancing, but that's not the case for some, who have to be reminded by the presence of a police officer, photojournalist or video camera person.
