Man butchered for stealing pig

The Police in Rukungiri district has kicked off with investigations into the murder of one Onesmus Kanyesigye, a resident of Rwakatunduri cell Kabingo Parish Buhunga Sub-County.

The Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson, Elly Maate, says, the deceased was allegedly accused of stealing a pig, belonging to one Alice Bumuhamiza, 80, also from the same residence.

It is alleged that the assailant one Collins Muhereza aged 38, and son to Bamuhamiza, (owner of the pig) pursued the deceased upon recovery of their missing pig and cut him multiple times on the head and hands with a panga, leading to his death.

Police says they have arrested the suspected killer, and also recovered the killer weapon as evidence.

"The deceased's body was on Sunday 21, taken to Rwakabengo Health Centre III mortuary for Postmortem as inquiries into the matter continue," said Police.
