Express to start next season with new squad

Although the start of the 2020/2021 regular season is still four months away, Express FC have intensified their plans to build a new side after releasing 18 players.

For the past two seasons or more, the Red Eagles have had a new playing squad something that has affected their performance in the topflight league.

When New Vision contacted Express coach Wasswa Bbosa, he revealed that released players were no able to meet his targets.

"We are in preparation to build a new generation of players to replace those who have been released. By next week, we should have signed the players we need. We want to see Express back to its glory days than just participating in the league and perhaps fighting not to be relegated," Bbosa said.

The released players included Tonny Kyamera, Joshua Adea,Mohammed Yiga,Emmanuel Bafoe,Martin Kizza,Joseph Zziwa,Hamis Batega,Andrew Kiwanuka,David Kakeeto,Hamdan Nsubuga,Axel Konan,Lawrence Kigonya,Dennis Sserukwaya, Peter Mutebi,Isaac Doka,Shafik Avema,Baker Lukooya and Idris Kabonge

Meanwhile, Express has entered into negotiations with several players especially those who are free agents.

These are Ambrose Kirya, Joel Mutakubwa, Abel Eturude,Hassan Hood, Henry Katongole, Mahad Yaya kakooza, David Owori, John Byamukama, Charles Busingye and Faisal Sekyanzi among others.

Geoffrey Lwesibawa is one of the players that Express has so far signed on a two year deal.

Express seem to be in revamping mood after finishing ninth last season. They also recently appointed Isaac Mwesigwa as the new CEO of the club replacing Hamza Jjunju.
Express last won silverware in 2012 under coach Sam Ssimbwa with Bbosa as an assistant.
